CHAINSHARPENING
Chainsharpeningrequiresspecial
tools.Youcanpurchasesharpening
toolsatSearsorgotoaprofessional
chainsharpener.

chain.
CHAINREPLACEMENT
WARNING:Wearprotective
gloveswhenhandlingchain.The
chainissharpandcancutyoueven
whenitisnotmoving.
Itisnormalforanewchaintostretch
duringthefirst30minutesofoperation.
Youshouldrecheckyourchaintension
frequentlyandadjustthechaintension
asrequired.SeeCHECKCHAINTEN-
SIONsection.
Replacetheoldchainwhenitbe-
comeswornordamaged.Useonly
theLowKickbackreplacementchain
specifiedinthelistofavailablere-
placementparts.Thechainmustcom-
plywithkickbackperformancerequire-
mentsofANSIB175.1whentested
withthissaw.
SeeyourSearsServiceCentertore-
placeandsharpenindividualcutters
onyourchain.
TOREPLACECHAIN:
1. Disconnectunitfrompowersource.
2. Removebarclampnuts.
3. Removebarclamp.
4. Turnadjustingscrewonthebar
counterclockwisetomovethe
tensioningrackasfarasitwillgo
towardthefrontofthebar.

5. Slideguidebartowardthedrive
sprocketuntilguidebarstops
againstthesprocket.
6. Removetheoldchain.
7. Carefullyremovethenewchain
fromthepackage.Holdchainwith
thedrivelinksasshown.

8. Place the chain around the sprock-
et and fit the drive links into the
guide bar groove and then into the
teeth of the sprocket in the tip of
the guide bar.
9. Pull guide bar forward until the
chain is snug in the guide bar
groove. Ensure all drive links are
in the bar groove.
10. Install the bar clamp.
11. Install bar clamp nuts; finger tight-
en only. Do not tighten any further
at this point. Proceed to CHAIN AD-
JUSTMENT.
