BELT REPLACEMENT
NOTE:Toaid in reassembly,notethe orientationof the drivebelton
the twoidlerpulleysandtheengineflywheelpulleypriorto performing
the followingsteps.Referto Figure17.
Theedgerdrivebelt is subjectto wearand shouldbe replacedif any
signsof cracking,shreddingor rottingarepresent.Toreplacethe belt,
proceedas follows:
1. Workinginfrontof theedger,loosentheflangelocknut ontop of
frame,allowingthe idlerpulleyassemblyto pivotslightlyout from
the frame.See Figure17.

Withyourotherhand,carefullyreachunderthe rearof the edger
andremovethe belt fromaroundtheengineflywheelpulley.See
Figure17.
Removethe spindlesheavesbelt guardby removingthe two
self-tappingscrewswhichsecureit to the bladeplateassembly.

4. Carefullyremovethe beltfromoffof the pulleys,againmaking
sureto notethe orientationof the belt.Discardthe belt.See
Figure18.
5. Workingfromthe frontof the edger,placethe beltonto the spindle
sheaves,routeit backonto the topand bottomidlerpulleys,and
then placeitontothe engineflywheelpulley.
NOTE:Makecertainthatthe "V" sideof the beltisseatedintothetop
pulleyandthe flatside of the beltis seatedintothe bottompulley.See
Figure18.
6. Reinstallthe spindlesheavesbeltguardwiththe selftapping
screwsremovedearlier.
7. Makecertainthatthe drivebelt is onthe engineflywheelpulley
and idlerpulleys,and retightentheflange locknuton thetop of
the frame.
NOTE:Makecertainthatthe drive beltis seatedcorrectlyandthatit
is ridingsmoothlyonthe spindlesheavesandis notpinchedbetween
them. Repeatthe firstthree stepsif the belt is pinched.
